OWWA processed over 2,500 members
Together with the Philippine Consulate General of Agana, Guam, the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ended Tuesday its consular outreach at the Kristo Rai Parish Social Hall, with OWWA processing over 2,500 applications.
OWWA representative Evelyn Llanes told Saipan Tribune last Tuesday evening that they were able to process 2,517 OWWA member applications, including renewals and enrollments.
“The trip was very fruitful. Besides being able to process over 2,500 applicants, we were also able to advise others who had problems,” she said.
According to Llanes, those who were not able to have their OWWA membership renewed may do so online through their phone application called the OWWA app. It is available for download in both the Google Playstore and the Apple App Store.
Besides the 2,517 OWWA applications, the Philippine Consulate General was able to execute 473 consular transactions in all.
According to Philippine Consul to Guam Mark Francis Hamoy, the first ever consular outreach program for 2019 on Saipan was able to process 426 passport renewal applications, 26 notarial services, 10 reports of birth, three reports of marriage, and eight petitions for dual citizenships.
Hamoy noted that their expected target of only 420 passport renewals was surpassed because of those who were willing to wait to get their documents processed in place of those who did not show up to their appointments.
“Our target per day [was] 140 passport renewal applicants,” Hamoy said. “We went beyond that.”
“Usually, when there are substitute applicants for those who did not show up to their appointments, they are unable to fill up the remaining slots for the consular mission,” Hamoy added.
Besides that, he further noted that there were only three applications for lost passports.
