Garapan 1, San Vicente 2 unbeaten in pool play

San Vicente Elementary School 1 and Garapan 1 were undefeated in pool play in the Public School System Interscholastic Co-ed 4×4 Basketball Tournament held last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Garapan 1 earned a 3-0 record in the preliminary round and San Vicente 2 got the same perfect mark, as the two top finishers will receive the higher seeding in the competition’s playoffs this Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
William S. Reyes Elementary School 4 and Koblerville 2 wrapped up pool play with similar 2-1 records to place at No. 2, while Koblerville 1 (1-0), San Vicente 1 (1-2), WSR 1 (1-2), Koblerville 3 (0-3), WSR 3 (0-3), and WSR 2 (0-1) were the other teams that joined the pool play.
Organizers will determine the seeding later this week, as they are still waiting for Tinian and Kagman teams.
In the high school 3×3 tournament at the Koblerville Gymnasium, the seeding has been decided.
Marianas High School 1 is the No. 1 seed in the girls division and is followed by Saipan Southern High School, Tinian 1 and 2, and MHS 2. The girls competition will have a double-elimination format in the playoffs.
The same format will be in effect in the boys division, which has 12 teams with Kagman High School 1 the top seed in the group. Other squads playing in this weekend’s tournament (seeding in order) are MHS 2, Da’Ok, SSHS 3, Tinian 1 and 2, MHS 1, MHS 3, SSHS 1, KHS 2, KHS 3, and SSHS 2.
