Braves shut out Ayuyus

The Natibu Braves crushed the Ayuyus, 16-0, as action at the Natibu Sports Association Girls Fast-pitch and Boys Slow-pitch Softball League resumed last Saturday at the Capital Hill Ballfield.

The Braves and Ayuyus played in the first game of the league, which canceled its Feb. 23 matches due to Super Typhoon Wutip, with the former finishing off their foes after only four innings, winning via the 10-run mercy rule.

The Braves exploded for seven runs in the third inning, and they never relinquished the driver’s seat after that, wrapping up the match after making five runs in the fourth inning.

Before the Ayuyus were forced to wave the white flag, the game was within their reach, as the Braves led by only four after the first two innings. However, the Braves pulled away in the last two innings for the early win.

Henry Moses blasted two home runs in the pivotal innings, while Awang Tudela, Bing Nakamura, and Miguel Leveque had one homer apiece for the Braves. J.J. Sablan, Boss Camacho both crossed home plate twice, while Kyle Kapileo reached once.

With the impressive shutout win, the Braves improved to a 2-1 record, while the Ayuyus stumbled to a 1-2 card.

Blue Jays 13, Falcons 7
The Blue Jays almost doubled-up on the Falcons, winning the other boys game after seven innings.

After facing a 6-7 deficit at the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Jays caught fire in the fifth and scored six runs to seize a 12-7 lead .

J.P. Celis, James Salalila, Donavan Mendiola, Henry Fleming, Jordan Babauta, and Cody Foreman scored in the crucial fifth inning for the Blue Jays. Celis finished the game with two home runs.

The Blue Jays are now knotted up with the Braves at first place, while the Falcons fell to a 1-2 card.

Patriots-Angels 21, Niners 3
In the girls fast-pitch division’s curtain-raiser, the Patriots-Angels dominated the Niners in six innings.

After neither team scored in the first inning, the Patriots-Angels stormed past the Niners in the second to open a 7-0 advantage. The Patriots-Angels then showed that their performance in the second inning was no fluke, as they duplicated their seven-run output in the third and fourth inning for the blowout.

Tiah Camacho, Cassandra Camacho, Franzie Elleisar, and Sylvina Simram scored three runs apiece for the Patriots-Angels. Richelle Ramon, Kiana Aldan, Mariko Laniyo, and Alannah Sablan added two runs each, while Chanel Espinosa chipped in one.

The victorious Patriot-Angels are undefeated in three games, while the Niners remain winless also after three matches.

Balas 24, Ayuyus 13
Balas needed only four innings to whip the Ayuyus.

Balas was just on top by three after the first inning, 5-2, when it picked up its pace in the last three to put the game away for good.

Jaime Pangelinan and Caitlyn Kaipat made four runs each to lead Balas.

With the win and its 2-1 record, Balas kept the No. 2 spot in the standing, while the Ayuyus are in third place with its 1-2 slate.
