Art classes at the public library
In honor of Women’s Month, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is providing many opportunities for beginner or advanced artists in the CNMI. Two opportunities include an art class by instructor Meena Benavente, and Art Camp, sponsored by the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture. Both programs are free, but registration is required. Supplies will be provided.
Art Camp will take place on Saturdays—March 9, 16, 23, and 30—from 12pm to 2pm and from 2pm to 4pm.
• Session 1: March 9, 2019 (Registration period March 1 – March 7 or until filled)
A: 12pm-2pm – Mwar Making
B: 2pm-4pm – Recycle Flower Making
• Session 2: March 16, 2019 (Registration period March 1 – March14 or until filled)
A: 12pm-2pm – Beads Jewel Making
B: 2pm – 4pm – Painting
• Session 3: March 23, 2019 (Registration period March 1 – March 21 or until filled)
A: 12pm-2pm – Recycle Paper Art
B: 2pm-4pm – Painting
• Session 4: March 30, 2019 (Registration period March 1 – March 28 or until filled)

Art Camp is for library patrons ages 8 and up with a library card. Patron must have no fines/fees in order to participate. To register, stop by the library. All registrations must be made in the library. Seating is limited, so sign up today.
Another great opportunity for artists is on Saturday, March 16, an art class in honor of Women’s Month. This class will be led by Meena Benavente, creator of post-typhoon tin art. The class will run from 10:30am to 11:30am, and registration is required. Class is for ages 6-12 years old, and patrons must have a library card with no fees/fines in order to participate. Limited seating, so sign up today! Registration runs from Friday, March 1, to Thursday, March 14 (Tuesday-Friday, 10:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday, 9:30am to 3:30pm).
