The Commonwealth Election Commission had already sent a total of 50 ballots to absentee voters for the March 23 special election.

CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol disclosed yesterday that they received and approved a total of 53 requests for absentee ballots.

Igitol said they sent the first batch of 45 ballots last Tuesday, which was the deadline to apply for absentee voting by electronic/mail.

She said the following day, Wednesday, they sent the second batch composed of five more ballots.

Igitol said three absentee voters picked up their ballots at the CEC office in Susupe.

Igitol said they printed 4,038 ballots for this special election.

As of last Jan. 28, there were 3,361 registered voters for Precinct 3. At the Nov. 13, 2018 general election, there were 3,795 voters for Precinct 3 and out of those number, 2,867 cast their votes.

A special election will be held following the death of representative Francisco D. Dela Cruz last month.

There are four candidates—former representative Donald Cabrera Barcinas of the Democratic Party, Marco Taisakan Peter of the Republican Party, and independent candidates David Castro Sablan and Mariano DLG Fajardo.

The election will be held at the Garapan and Oleai Elementary Schools.
