Shorty’s, the sustainable brand whose accessories provide island children access to recycled slippers, is having its first distribution event ever on Saipan.

Through its “Buy-a-pack” program, every time someone buys a Shorty’s bracelet, a slipper is generated and then donated throughout the Micronesia Islands. Shorty’s opened its business in 2018 and has distributed more than 500 slippers so far.

Taking place this weekend, March 1 and 2, at Tribe Marianas on Saipan, Shorty’s will be giving away their slippers to anyone under the age of 18. In addition to the promised slippers, Shorty’s, in partnership with Ayuda Foundation, also will be giving away backpacks, school supplies, and other donated goodies to “help the islands’ students bounce back” after Super Typhoon Yutu, so that they can finish the school year strong!

This event is a two-day pop-up shop highlighting Shorty’s expansion into Saipan. With this event, they hope to connect with Saipan’s environmentally conscious community.

When asked why they decided on expanding into Saipan, Shorty’s founder, Kai Murrell replied: “There is this massive wave of environmental consciousness that is developing right here in the Pacific Islands. Shorty’s is extending the invite—an invitation for the CNMI to not only join us on this wave of environmental awareness that we’re riding, but to help us build it as well.”
