Typhoon debris removal now up to households

As of last Sunday, Feb. 24, 2018, the Super Typhoon Yutu debris removal operation from the village areas on Saipan was completed.
The Department of Public Works and the Mayor’s Office of Saipan are no longer picking up typhoon-related debris around the villages. That means residents should no longer bring their waste to the roadside.
Residents are being advised that they will need to bring their waste themselves to the transfer station or the Marpi landfill for proper disposal.
For disposal of white goods (like appliances and air conditioners, etc.), electronic waste, and household hazardous waste, residents may still bring them to the As Gonno site for proper disposal.
With the debris removal operation now completed, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality is warning the public that any disposal of debris along the roadside will be considered illegal dumping and the responsible person(s) and/or entity will be charged with the violation accordingly. The illegal dumping violation may result in penalty with fine as prescribed in the BECQ regulations.
