San Jose 1 recovers, leads Rocball semis cast

San Jose 1 notched a pair of come-from-behind wins to remain unbeaten and march into the semifinal round of the 2019 Rocball League.
San Jose 1, which is playing in the league for the first time, eked out a 38-37 victory over KMA last week at the Marianas High School Gymnasium and then followed it up with a 37-31 triumph versus former champions Teachers to earn a 5-0 mark going into the Final Four round.
Joining San Jose 1 in the semis are KMA, and WTA, while Fam Bam, Laly Four, San Jose 2, T.D., and VAD have been eliminated. The two other squads—Teachers and Bumpers—will square off this week for the fourth and last semis ticket. The Bumpers and Teachers hold identical 2-2 records and since their match is sort of a playoff, neither team will be allowed to recruit players from those squads that have been booted out.
Meanwhile, besides securing a semis berth, KMA also leads the league in aces with 37 and in goals (nine). VAD and WTA are ahead in xunks (seven) and kees (10) and the latter also has the most jams so far this season with two.
In the individual statistics, Kaystone Rafalopei is the league’s heavy hitter so far with 13 aces (26 points), while Liam Arriola, Mathew Carlos, J.R. Christopher, Fatima Monterubio, Kevin Kukkun, Noryanka Skerei, Amu Itibus, and Keanu Hosono have scored two xunks apiece (4 points). Nick Gross and Bailey Spaeth are on top of the kees (7) and jams (2) categories, respectively, while the latter is also among the players with three goals each (9 points), joining J.R. Christopher, T.J Eina, Jerrid Rosario, Nathan Celis, and Itibus on the list.
