Garapan school OK’d as polling site in special election
CEC still awaiting reply from PSS if Oleai is ready
The Public School System has already approved the Commonwealth Election Commission’s request to designate the Garapan Elementary School as a polling site for the March special election, according to CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol yesterday.
Igitol said they, however, are not sure whether the designated polling site at Garapan Elementary School is the cafeteria or a classroom.
With respect to the other polling site, Igitol said they are still awaiting the reply of Education Commissioner Glenn Muña whether Oleai Elementary School is available.
She said their request is to designate one classroom at Oleai since its cafeteria is still under renovation.
CEC executive director Julita Villagomez earlier stated that they want to hold the March 23 special election at the Garapan and Oleai elementary schools—the traditional polling places for Precinct 3 voters.
Due to Super Typhoon Yutu’s devastation last Oct. 24 and 25, the polling sites for Precinct 3 during the Nov. 13, 2018, general elections were moved to Garapan Central Park and at the Marianas Visitors Authority office in Oleai/San Jose.
As of last Jan. 28, there were 3,361 registered voters in Precinct 3.
Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres set the special election following the death of representative Francisco D. Dela Cruz last month.
