Pacific Oceania’s No. 1 U16 player Robbie Schorr will play his first singles match in a local tournament today when he squares off with Malika Miyawaki in second and final week of the 2019 White Coconut Tennis Classic.

Schorr, who only played in the mixed doubles event last week, as he just completed three competitions in New Zealand, will meet Miyawaki tomorrow at the American Memorial Park courts for the last semis berth in the men’s singles contest. The winner of the Schorr-Miyawaki tiff will duel CNMI Hall of Famer Jeff Race for the finals berth at the top half of the draw. The other finals ticket will be contested by No. 2 seed Jimin Woo and No. 4 Sean Lee and they will also play their semis match tomorrow, while the title game is set for Monday.

The other singles events—boys U16, U10, and U12, and girls U12—are having their semis games, too this weekend.

In the boys U16 singles, the Final Four pairings are No. 2 Daniel Kang against No. 3 Maria Gregoire and No. 1 Sam Ryu versus No. 4 Andy Kim. Kang was the winner of the fourth semis berth in the division, not Eugene Park as earlier posted on the tournament website’s results.

In boys U12 singles, No. 1 Juncheol Wang will go up against Wataru Kadokura, while the other semis game will have Takeru Jim battling June Yu. Yu is also in the semifinals of the boys U10 singles and will take on June Lim, while Yutaka Kadokura will collide against Lina Tsukagoshi in the other Final Four matchup.

In the girls U12 singles semifinals, No. 1 Savita Sikkel and No. 2 Irin Chung will face Hoo Wang and Dain Lee, respectively.

Also scheduled this weekend are the continuation of the boys and girls U14 singles events, which both have a round-robin format, while the mixed doubles will start its quarterfinals tomorrow.
