The Rotary Club of Saipan’s signature annual fundraiser, Las Vegas Night, will finally take place in March, this time at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

With Super Typhoon Yutu forcing the Rotary to move it from its original November 2018 schedule, Las Vegas Night will now take place on March 30, 2019.

Saipan Rotary Club president Greg Borja noted that ticket selling for the event will resume today after a minor setback in their gambling permit application with the Department of Commerce.

“We are just trying to finalize our application in regards to the gambling permit at the Department of Commerce,” said Borja. “We are missing only one application,”

The Rotary expected that missing application to be completed and submitted to the Office of the Attorney General yesterday afternoon, with ticket selling to follow today immediately.

According to Borja, the prizes for the annual event includes a grand prize of either $10,000 or a 2019 Mazda car, $3,000 as second prize, $2,000 as third prize, $1,000 as fourth prize, and $500 for the fifth prize.

The funds raised from the event would primarily go to the construction of a new playground at the Sugar King Park. The new playground, Borja said, would be handicap-accessible. He said the Rotary would need about $20,000 as seed money.

The rest of the funds would be used for the youth exchange programs that the Saipan Rotary Club regularly hosts with Rotary clubs in Tokyo, Japan.
