San Jose 1 is still perfect, while Laly Four and San Jose 2 have been eliminated in the 2019 Rocball League being played at the Marianas High School.
San Jose 1 is unbeaten in three games to lead the team standings in the nine-squad field, while Bumpers, Fam Bam, Teachers, and WTA are tied for second place with their identical 2-1 records. Team T.D. and VAD are ranked third with similar 1-2 marks, while Laly Four and San Jose 2 are at the bottom after failing to win a single game in three matches.
Though Laly four and San Jose 2 have been booted out, their players can still suit up for other teams in the succeeding games.
According to Rocball founder and league organizer James Feger, this kind of system allows players to continue playing the sport and in many cases improves other teams chances to win. Squads are allowed to recruit players in the preliminary games, but not in the semis and championship matches.
Meanwhile, San Jose 1 also leads the league in aces scored with their 23 and the frontrunners are ahead, too in xunks with five, tying VAD. Team T.D, the Teachers, and WTA are leading in the kees (five), goals (four), and jam (one) categories, respectively.
In the individual statistics, Kaystone Refalopei Noresch has scored 10 aces, while Liam Arriola, Fatima Monterubio, Kevin Kukkun, Noryanka Skerei, and Amu Itibus have two xunks each. Nick Gross leads the league with four kees, while only Bailey Spaeth has made a jam so far this season.
Another notable player in the league is the Teachers’ Roque Indalecio, who was named Player of the Week for making a goal off a service. He is only the second player to make that kind of play in rocball’s 36-year history. (Saipan Tribune)
