Mariano DLG Fajardo, an independent candidate, had filed his candidacy before the Commonwealth Election Commission for the special election for a vacant Precinct 3 seat in the House of Representatives.

CEC executive director Julita Villagomez disclosed yesterday that Fajardo submitted his nominating petition and candidacy documents last Friday, making him the first candidate to do so.

Villagomez said Fajardo was accompanied by his wife and his committee-to-elect.

Fajardo landed ninth place among the 12 candidates for Precinct 3 during the general election last Nov. 13. There are six Precinct 3 seats.

With the passing of representative Francisco D. Dela Cruz last month, a special election will be held on March 23 to fill the vacant seat.

Dela Cruz landed fifth in the election.

Rep. Edmund Villagomez, an independent, obtained the highest number of votes. Former representative Donald Cabrera Barcinas got the seventh position.

As of last Jan. 28, there were 3,361 registered voters for Precinct 3. (Ferdie de la Torre)
