The evening will kick off at 6pm with a traditional Lion Dance and classical dancing by the Chinese Association of Saipan. The opening act will be followed by a martial arts Taekwondo demonstration by the Korean Community of Saipan at 6:30pm, Marianas High School POLKSAI Chamorro Club at 7:30pm, Laulau Homebrew at 8pm, modern dance troupe Studio 29:11 at 8:30pm, and local musician James Selepeo at 9:15pm.
The event will also include the sale of traditional Chinese and Korean new year dishes, as well as Japanese and local food.
“Lunar New Year is one of the busiest visitor seasons for The Marianas, and we are looking forward to presenting this evening of entertainment and food for both our visitors and our local community,” said Marianas Visitors Authority Community Projects manager Martin Duenas. “We welcome everyone to come and join in this celebration.”
The pedestrian mall will be decorated with traditional Korea and Chinese lamps. The event is co-organized by the Chinese Association, the Korean Community of Saipan, and the MVA.
