‘Operations at CNMI airports not affected by partial federal govt shutdown’

Operations of the Transportation Security Administration at the CNMI international airports are not affected with the partial federal government shutdown.

“We do have enough screeners,” said TSA assistant federal security director of CNMI Shawna Alldridge in a phone interview Monday night.

Alldridge said even with the partial federal government shutdown, they got their officers on duty.

“There are still amazing officers come to work, doing what they need to do,” she said.

Allridge said the partial shutdown is only affecting “personal lives.”

She disclosed that TSA officers received their last paycheck at the end of December 2018.

“We are coming up on two paydays,” the TSA official said, adding that they will just continue their job.

In addition to providing federal Transportation Security Officers, TSA is responsible for oversight of the airport’s security plan and working to ensure each airline meets the agency’s security standards.
