Scholarships extend deadline for NMC students
The CNMI Scholarship office and the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance have extended their application deadlines for NMC students. Participants needing assistance filling out these financial aid forms are encouraged to attend NMC’s Cash for College workshops. The CNMI Scholarship Office and the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance program have announced that they have extended their application deadlines for Northern Marianas College students.
The new deadlines for CNMI Scholarship and SHEFA are:
• CNMI Scholarship Application: March 1, 2019
• CNMI Scholarship Supporting Documents: April 15, 2019
• SHEFA Application Deadline: Feb. 1, 2019
• SHEFA Supporting Documents: April 12, 2019
Students interested in receiving assistance in filling scholarship forms are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Cash for College workshops hosted by NMC. New, ongoing, and returning students can attend the Cash for College workshops scheduled on Rota, Saipan, and Tinian:
• Jan. 24 & 25: Rota NMC campus, from 10am to 4pm on Jan. 24 and 8am to 12pm on Jan. 25.
• Jan. 26: Saipan, Buildings N and O, NMC As Terlaje campus, from 9am to 12pm.
• Feb. 12: Tinian NMC Campus Library, from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Participants of the workshop will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms like the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and application forms for CNMI Scholarship, SHEFA, and other municipal scholarships.
Staff members from the College’s Office of Admissions and Records will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC application process. In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming Spring 2019 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.
Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid U.S. passport, copy of valid application for a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or green card), an official transcript from high school (at least three official copies), Copy of 2017 and 2018 1040, Copy of 2017 and 2018 W-2 (if not filing), and proof of CNMI residency, including proof of continuing residency.
