CHC outpatient pharmacy marks its first anniversary

The Commonwealth Health Center celebrated last Tuesday the first anniversary of the establishment of its outpatient pharmacy at the CHC building, making the occasion by giving out freebies and free medical services.
The giveaways included sugar-free cake, a small reusable bag, boxes of anti-allergy medicine, a first-aid kit, a pill caddy; and some brochures.
The free medical services included health screenings and education and flu vaccinations.
The pharmacy also unveiled Tuesday a new pathway leading to the pharmacy as well as a new signage right next to the main entrance.
“The best part of providing pharmacy on an outpatient basis is being able to interact directly with patients, and becoming part of their solution to feeling better,” said Rodylyn Bacani, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Pharmacy Department manager, in a statement. “The outpatient pharmacy has become another doorway for patients to get the help they need. It is an honor to work for them.”
In a separate interview, Bacani said the pharmacy is looking at extending telepharmacy services to Rota and Tinian. The main pharmacist would be stationed on Saipan while pharmacy technicians on Rota and Tinian would prepare the medicines for issuance to patients. “We will have the same system on Rota and Tinian,” she said. “The patients there can have access to our pharmaceutical services through a video conference.”
According to Bacani, a first formal meeting was held last Monday. She expects to launch the telepharmacy system for Rota and Tinian sometime this year.
