The Tan Siu Lin Foundation and TanHoldings representatives were on Tinian last Dec. 19 to distribute “Buckets of Hope” to residents impacted by Super Typhoon Yutu.
TanHoldings CEO Jerry Tan led a team of executives for a brief presentation ceremony at the Tinian Mayor’s Office. Tinian acting mayor and chairman of the 16th Municipal Council, Edwin Hofschneider, and representative-elect Antonio SN. Borja were on hand to receive the donation.
Immediately following the presentation ceremony, Tan and his team delivered “Buckets of Hope” to residents of Broadway Estates.
“The holiday season is a very important time for the community to come together to help those still impacted by Yutu. I am happy to have made it out to Tinian with my team to personally deliver our ‘Buckets of Hope’ in time for Christmas,” said Tan.
“It is our hope that these buckets provide optimism for the future amidst Yutu’s devastation. We know that recovery and rebuilding will take time. We are a resilient community and we will get through this together,” added Tan.
“We prepared and shipped to Tinian more than 300 ‘Buckets of Hope.’ The buckets contain a mix of items including liquid laundry detergent, bath soap, canned food, milk, juice, snacks, instant noodles, batteries, etc.,” TSLF general manager Merlie Tolentino indicated.
“This effort and these gifts of hope were supported and made possible through our partnership with the Guam Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Guam Chinese Association, the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, the Tinian Mayor’s Office, and the Tinian Municipal Operations Center,” she continued.
Tan’s team included TanHoldings vice president for business development Alex Sablan, vice president for corporate affairs/human resources Catherine Attao, Tolentino, and Community Relations director Carline Sablan. Vanessa Manglona, Tito Manglona, and Wally Villagomez of the Tinian Municipal Operations Center coordinated the distribution of the buckets.
“On behalf of Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas and the people of Tinian, we are extremely appreciative of this generous donation from the TSLF, TanHoldings, and their partners. It will surely lift the spirits of our residents, most especially our children and man’amko,” said Hofschneider. “We are most grateful for Jerry and Tan Holding’s continued support of our community and are humbled by such generosity,” he added.
