MCS 4th graders win Achieve3000 ‘Read to Succeed’ contest

Achieve3000 recently announced that Mount Carmel School’s 4th grade students under their teacher, Jonabel Rumley, won the “Read to Succeed” contest sponsored by Achieve3000.
The contest, which ran from early November through December 2018, was held to encourage students to succeed in Achieve3000’s online lessons designed to promote interdisciplinary literacy.
Every time a student in the class completed a multiple-choice activity, that student’s class earned one point. For every score of 75 percent or higher, the class earned two points, and for every score of 88 percent or higher, the class earned three points.
Rumley’s students topped the contest with a record-breaking 54,025 points, for which they were awarded a class party sponsored by Achieve3000.
School president Galvin Deleon Guerrero expressed how proud he was of Rumley and her students. “Even with all the challenges brought by Super Typhoon Yutu, such as lack of power and limited internet connectivity, our students committed to doing their best. In the end, they emerged as the best!”
The achievement was significant enough to garner the attention of Achieve3000’s chief executive officer, Stuard Udell. In his message to Deleon Guerrero, Udell wrote, “We truly appreciate the opportunity to partner with you in impacting student achievement.” Udell said. “I personally value your support and look forward to continued student growth in 2019.” (PR)
