Race day signup on for Christmas relay

Northern Marianas Athletics will still accept registration for the 37th Annual Christmas Island Relay tomorrow morning.

Sign up will start at 5am in front of the Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio, while the race will begin at 6am. Runners will negotiate the 13.7-mile course from San Antonio to the Last Command Post in Marpi.

So far, eight teams have confirmed participation in NMA’s season-ending event for this year. Proceeds from the race will be donated to schools/students affected by Super Typhoon Yutu.

Teams interested in racing in tomorrow’s event must have five members and those competing in the open mixed division must have one runner in the 16 years old or younger age group, a female, or 40 years old or older. In the youth mixed division (U16 age group), a team has to have at least one female or U12 runner. Each member will alternately run one mile.
