Skymark, foundation donate meals to Kagman shelter

A Japanese airline collaborated with a non-government organization yesterday to donate lunch and refreshments to shelterees at the Kagman Emergency Shelter Facility.
Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Robert Hunter told Saipan Tribune yesterday that Skymark Airlines Inc. and the Lady Diann Torres Foundation donated 150 meals for all of the shelterees at the permanent long-term shelter in Kagman.
“Skymark and the Lady Diann Foundation contacted us about the possibility of providing the meal and desserts,” Hunter said.
The meal included rice, a side dish, cake, and even ice keki for the children.
“We are really grateful that they went out of their way without any request from us,” Hunter said.
According to Hunter, both Skymark and the LDTF approached DCCA to donate the lunch meals for the shelterees.
“…They contacted us and asked if they could provide a meal for the shelterees,” he said. “We did not send a request to them—they did [the donation] on their own.”
KESF shelter manager Lucinda Selepeo also expressed the same gratitude toward both Skymark and the LDTF, Hunter said.
There are currently 39 families at the shelter.
