PCC, PPUC sign MOU on solar energy

The Palau Public Utilities Corp. and the Palau Community College signed a memorandum of understanding last Dec. 10 for a grid-connected solar photovoltaic system.

Present to witness and sign this partnership was PPUC board chair and acting chief executive officer Gregorio Decherong, PCC board of trustees chair Masa-Aki Emesiochl, and PCC president Dr. Patrick U. Tellei.

The purpose of the system is to provide 100 kWp grid-connected photovoltaic generation system to defray the cost of fossil fuel consumption imported to Palau, to promote Paris Agreement on Reduction of Green House emission, and to reduce PCC energy consumption costs.

This system will be installed on the roof of the PCC cafeteria, composed of 304 solar panels, inverters, and electrical room. It will also be used as training module for PCC students and PPUC technicians. (PR)
