Triathlete and lawyer Joshua Berger is sponsoring a tournament this weekend dubbed as BergerMan Triathlon.

The event will start and end at Paupau Beach this Saturday with registration beginning at 6am and the race kicking off at 6:30am. Entry fee is only $5 and includes a finisher t-shirt and raffle prizes. The race will have two distances, the sprint and Olympic. The bike courses for both distances are road and will bring participants to as far as the Bird Island Lookout. Those who can’t do the swim leg in the waters of Paupau Beach are still welcome to come and can take part in the bike and runs races only. Teams are also welcome.

Triathletes who are hoping to be part of the CNMI Team that will compete in the Pacific Triathlon Championships in Guam are encouraged to join the BergerMan Traithlon as the weekend event will serve as one of the qualifying tournaments for the June 21 and 22 competition.

According to an email from Northern Mariana Islands Triathlon Federation or Tri Saipan’s Brad Ruszala, the CNMI will be sending three male and three female athletes to the Olympic distance (1.5K swim, 40K bike, and 10K run) division of the Pacific Triathlon Championships. Athletes who will be selected (based on qualifier results, eligibility, and availability) will get an all-expense paid trip to Guam.

This weekend’s BergerMan Triathlon will also prepare local bets for next month’s XTERRA Saipan Championship and Tagaman Triathlon.
