PSS classes resume
The Public School System is set to open its campuses with some schools resuming on Dec. 3 and others on Dec. 10.
Dr. Bobby Cruz, acting PSS public information officer, said, “PSS is excited to open its schools to help students return to a sense of normalcy, continue learning, receive social-emotional support and have daily nutritious meals.”
The public is encouraged to visit the CNMI PSS Facebook page to review details on the class resumptions. Parents and guardians should identify their child’s school opening date and schedule, either a full day, double session or half-day. The bell and busing schedules are also included.
In discussing how each school will run, Cruz noted: “Full-day schools experienced minimal damage and have the classroom capacity to support their population and have electricity and water. Schools that sustained moderate to severe damage use double sessions to maximize usable classrooms. The student population at each school will be divided with one group attending in the morning and with the other group running in the afternoon. Other schools will run half-day until power and water are restored and damage repaired. Marianas High School and Hopwood Junior High School will share the MHS campus, with HJHS using MHS in the morning and MHS running in the afternoon. Da’ok Academy has been relocated to the Northern Marianas Trades Academy.
For more information, inquiries or for help about the school resumption, parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their child’s school office.
