CNMI govt employees get four-day weekend

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres has allowed CNMI government employees to take a leave this Friday, effectively giving them a four-day weekend.

In a memorandum yesterday for all department and activity heads and employees, Torres is authorizing non-critical employees of the Commonwealth government to take an administrative leave this Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.

With Thursday being the Thanksgiving holiday, that combines four days off for government employees.

“As we move forward in our recovery efforts from both Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu, we are reminded of the hard work being done every day by our local and federal first responders. I want to express my sincerest gratitude to our CNMI Emergency Operations Center staff, the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, [Federal Emergency Management Agency], the Department of Defense, the American Red Cross, our law enforcement officers, our volunteer organizations, and our private sector partners. During this critical time when our islands need it the most, your commitment to service and your unwavering generosity are the reasons we will recover swiftly.

“With relief assistance coming in from all parts of the country and around the world and seeing the work we have accomplished together, we really have much to be grateful for this past year. To our government employees, thank you all for your hard work and service to improve these islands we call home.

“Let us continue to rebuild our islands stronger and more resilient than ever before. I hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving,” stated Torres’s memo. (Saipan Tribune)
