Tropical Storm Condition 3 declared for Rota

The island of Rota has been placed on Tropical Storm Condition 3 due to the current threat brought by Tropical Depression 34W, which was previously known as Tropical Disturbance 92W.
As of 2pm yesterday, acting governor Victor B. Hocog declared Tropical Storm Condition 3 for Rota.
Tropical Storm Condition 3 means damaging winds of 39-73 mph are possible within 48 hours.
The system was seen packing winds of 30 mph as of 2pm, but is expected to intensify drastically overnight into a tropical storm.
Guam has also been put on tropical storm watch as of 2pm yesterday.
Tropical Depression 34W, previously called Tropical Disturbance 92W, was expected to pass south of Guam this week but had intensified and continued west-northwest.
According to the National Weather Service in Guam, at 1pm yesterday, the center of Tropical Depression 34W was located near latitude 5.0 degrees north and longitude 155.1 degrees east.
Tropical Depression 34W is moving west-northwest at 13 mph and is expected to continue in this direction but its forward speed will gradually increase through Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 30 mph, but Tropical Depression 34W is expected to intensify through Thursday, becoming a tropical storm.
The CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point will continue to monitor the movement of Tropical Depression 34W and will issue bulletins as they become available.
