Absentee votes might tip scale for municipal council, BOE
Absentee voters may yet tip the scales for the Board of Education and the municipal councils of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
About 2,000 absentee votes have yet to be counted and current municipal council topnotchers on Rota and Tinian only have small leads over their competitors.
Rota Municipal Council candidate Lucia S. Manglona leads the pack with 111 votes, while Alexander A. Apatang and Anthony W. Barcinas are tied only a couple paces behind Manglona with 99 votes apiece. In fourth for the Rota Municipal Council seat is Simeon E. Taisacan, with 94 votes, while George O. Hocog comes in last with 76 votes.
According to unofficial tallies, Manglona. Barcinas, and Apatang lead the race while Taisacan follows closely with a five-vote difference.
Tinian and Aguiguan Municipal Council leader Esteven SN King Jr. leads with 605 votes as Thomasa Rita P. Mendiola’s 602 votes trails close behind. Third in the race is Patrick A. Manglona with 556 votes to take the third seat.
Nikita P. Mendiola follows with over 200 votes behind King, while Ervin C. Cruz Jr. and Joseph A. Borja Jr. follow.
Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation bet Debra Lynn T. Camacho’s 6,257 votes leads Antonia M. Tudela’s 5,767 votes and Ana D. Castro’s 5,264 votes. Thomas S. Muna’s 4,644 votes conclude the candidates running for the three municipal seats for the islands.
With only one seat for the BOE slot, Andrew L. Orsini’s 4,681 votes lead James M. Rayphand’s 4,429 votes by a margin of over 200 votes.
