HAGATNA, Guam (AP)—A man accused of stabbing to death a Guam teenager during a home invasion has pleaded not guilty.

The Pacific Daily News reports 24-year-old Brandon Michael Acosta entered his plea Wednesday to charges of aggravated murder and home invasion.

Acosta was arrested in June after 15-year-old Timicca Nauta was found stabbed to death in her Chalan Koda home.

According to court documents, authorities claim that Acosta told another inmate that he killed Nauta.

Authorities allege that Acosta said he did not intend to kill the teen, but “he merely made a mistake” after entering her dark bedroom.

The charges against Acosta are enhanced with special allegations of commission of a felony while on felony release. He was charged in January with family violence.
