Saipan airport to get 8 new AC units

Eight new air-conditioning units will be installed this week at the terminal at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, according to Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director Christopher S. Tenorio.

The units were procured before Super Typhoon Yutu and are already on Saipan.

Tenorio, however, noted that every unit may take up to two weeks to be fully operational, depending on its size.

“The priorities are based on passenger common-use areas that currently do not have any units,” he said.

At present, he said, air-conditioning units are working along the west corridor, gates 1 and 2, gate 6, gate 6 holding room, and BHS area.

Tenorio said air-conditioning units are working at the departure area in front of checkpoint and at the United and Jeju counters.

At Customs and Border Protection, one of two air-conditioners is working.

Tenorio said air-conditioning units at the arrival area, gates 3 and 4, and holding room B are not operating.

He said elevator 3 is operable, but the rest of the elevators, including at the tower, are inoperable.
