PH consulate aids over 200 on Tinian
The Philippine Consulate General in Guam handed out financial assistance yesterday to more than 200 Filipino nationals on Tinian who were affected by Super Typhoon Yutu, which passed over the island directly.
The Philippine Consulate General, led by vice consul Alex Vallespin and CNMI honorary consul Glicerio Arago, handed out $50 financial assistance per Filipino household on Tinian.
United Filipino Association on Tinian president Rodney Cabarles and members Susan Perez and Joey Lanteja helped the group on Tinian, which consisted of the CNMI Office of the Governor’s Community Outreach coordinator Annamae Adaza, Arago, and Vallespin.
Similar to a previous financial outreach effort on Saipan last weekend, the one on Tinian consisted of $50 each for a total of 207 households.
“It went very smooth,” said Arago. He thanked the volunteers on Tinian that assisted.
The one on Saipan was able to help 600 Filipino households, and while a second round of financial assistance would be provided from Nov. 14 through Nov. 16, Adaza told Saipan Tribune that there would not be another instance of financial relief assistance on Tinian.
