Probationer gets 4 months in prison for drinking beer
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona has revoked the release of a probationer who tested positive for alcoholic drinks.
Manglona found on Friday that Hermanny Palacios Santos Jr. did violate the conditions of his supervised release.
Manglona sentenced Santos to four months in prison and 32 months of supervised release.
Santos is required to undergo drug testing and perform 43 hours of community service, among other conditions.
Assistant U.S. attorney Garth Backe did not oppose the U.S. Probation Office’s recommendation to impose a four-month prison term on Santos.
Santos is allowed to start serving his prison term on Nov. 16.
U.S. probation officer Gregory F. Arriola said that Santos admitted to consuming seven cans of beer last Oct. 27 and leaving his house.
At the hearing, Robert Torres, counsel for Santos, informed the court that Santos will admit to the two violations.
In 2016, the court slapped Santos with a 21-month prison term after he pleaded guilty to two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
