The Saipan Chamber of Commerce invites all business community members to its monthly membership meeting today, Nov. 7, from 11:30am to 2pm at Hyatt Regency Ballroom.

Due to the massive impact of Super Typhoon Yutu on the CNMI community, the Chamber is inviting partnering agencies from the local and federal government to give recovery updates to the business community.

Agencies that have confirmed participation include the Small Business Administration, which will discuss its low-interest loans; the CNMI Department of Labor, to discuss the displaced workers grant; the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, to give general recovery updates.

There will also be information about forming partnerships with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Institute for Sustainable Development, and the International Economic Development Council as well as a local Business Community Recovery committee in the works.

Interested Chamber members and guests will have an opportunity to participate in a business recovery breakout session following the meeting, from 1pm to 2pm. The Chamber hopes to identify needs and solutions to best support local business establishments post-Typhoon Yutu.

The Chamber will also be electing members of its board of directors for 2019-2020. The candidates include Donna Krum (Friends First Marketing), Janel Pangelinan (Pacifica Insurance Underwriters, Inc.), Jim Arenovski (Delta Management), Joe Guerrero (Bridge Capital), Kevin McCale (Docomo Pacific), Marcia Calvo (Calvo’s Insurance), Ron Smith (Angil Design), Shayne Villanueva (Aon Insurance), and Tyrell Pauling (Hyatt Regency Saipan).

All candidates have been active members of the Chamber for the past year, have attended 20 percent of general membership meetings in 2018, and have been active in one or more official Chamber committee and in our business community. The official board will be announced at the end of the meeting.

Lunch will be open at 11:30am and the meeting will begin promptly at noon. The Chamber wishes to extend a one-time disaster relief price of $20 per member and $25 per non-member. The public is welcome to attend. Chamber members are invited to RSVP to administrator@saipanchamber.com or call (670) 234-7150.

The Chamber is the largest business membership organization in the CNMI, with over 160 members. For more information, like the Chamber’s Facebook Page: Saipan Chamber of Commerce or visit its website at www.saipanchamber.com, or call (670) 234-7150. (PR)
