CHCC: Over 450 seen in shelter visits
Medical teams from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. that visited typhoon shelters on Saipan saw over 450 individuals in the first week following Super Typhoon Yutu.
In a statement, CHCC said its medical teams treated a total of 458 persons.
CHCC information officer Samantha Birmingham-Babauta said the teams were divided into groups assigned to several shelters after coordinating with the Public School System and other agencies offering shelters.
The shelters visited were the Marianas High School, Koblerville Elementary School, Saipan Southern High School, Dandan Head Start center, Saipan Aging Office, San Vicente Elementary School, Kagman Elementary School, Oleai Head Start, Tanapag Middle School, and the Kagman Community Center.
CHCC was able to do second-round visits to MHS, SSHS, and the Aging Office over the four days.
Services provided at the shelters included select vaccinations; triage services, first aid; limited pharmacy; urgent care; and limited public health services such as family planning services.
Last Nov. 2, CHCC did a village outreach at the Dandan Middle School and the Chalan Kanoa Youth Center. Saipan Tribune has yet to obtain the number of persons treated there.
