Lia Rangamar attends athletics seminar in NZ

Northern Marianas Athletics sent Lia Rangamar to New Zealand for the 2018 Women’s Leadership Workshop and IAAF CECS Level II Throws Course.
Rangamar left Saipan last Wednesday to represent the CNMI in the two events that will run from Nov. 2 to 11 in Auckland, according to NMA secretary Robin Sapong.
The leadership seminar will take place first with Dame Valerie Adams, Annette Purvis, and Debbie Strange listed as resource speakers in the event. Adam is an Olympian and World Championship veteran from New Zealand, while Purvis served on the Kiwi’s athletics group board for 14 years. Strange is a respected and long-time throwing coach of New Zealand.
In related news, OAA officials were in Townsville, Australia yesterday to begin the countdown for the 2019 Oceania Athletics Association Championships.
Over 500 athletes and 100 technical officials from the Oceania region, including the CNMI, will participate in the competition that will take place at the Townsville Sports Reserve Athletics Track in Queensland from June 25 to 28. The event will also served as a qualifier for the 2019 IAAF World Championships that will be held in Doha, Qatar.
OAA executive director Yvonne Mullins, Townsville Enterprise chief executive officer Patricia O’Callaghan, and North Queensland athletes Jake Doran and Nash Lowis attended the countdown announcement ceremony.
