Mark Brown back at IPI
Imperial Pacific International (CNMI), LLC announced yesterday that Mark A. Brown will return from retirement to rejoin IPI, as the completion of the Garapan casino property enters its final phase.
Shortly after the opening of Best Sunshine Live in July of 2015, Brown shifted his focus from day-to-day operations to fundraising and governmental relations.
In an IPI statement yesterday, it said that Brown “worked closely with the Saipan Casino Control Commission and forged deep bonds with the people of CNMI in his capacity as chairman.
After guiding IPI through many key phases, Brown retired late last year “to spend more time with his family” in the U.S. mainland.
“While enjoying his retirement, Mr. Brown remained a close friend to IPI and to the community of Saipan,” the statement added.
“Over the past year the IPI team has positioned itself into the final stretch of completion for the Garapan resort property,” it said.
It said that IPI and Brown began to talk about Brown returning as “interim chairman” early last month “to lend his experience in guiding IPI through these critical last stages, and help ensure the success of launching full resort operations.”
To solidify his potential return, Brown visited Saipan during the week of Oct. 15 to view the progress first-hand and meet with government officials.
“As events progressed, last week [Super] Typhoon Yutu made landfall on Saipan. Yutu’s massive impact has created a moment where every member of the Saipan community, no matter where they are in the world, must step up to lend a hand to support one another. …Brown feels that spirit as a call to action, and is eager to return to Saipan to lend his support to rebuilding and guiding the IPI project to completion,” the IPI statement said.
“As one of the most prominent and respected leaders in the gaming industry, the IPI board is proud to welcome back a member of its family, and looks forward to [Brown] once again serving in a chairman capacity and helping contribute to the Saipan community during this crucial moment,” the statement said.
