TAMUNING, Guam—Anheuser-Busch is sending 50,000 cans of drinking water to the CNMI, to assist those affected by Super Typhoon Yutu. The water is being sent through the brewer’s partner, Ambros Inc., and will be released to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, through Marianas Pacific Distributors, or Marpac.

Anheuser-Busch is known to regularly stop brewing to fill cans with drinking water. This is done throughout the year to ensure that water is ready, should the need arise. The water was already en route to Guam, in preparation for the storm season.

“We requested the water about six weeks ago after Typhoon Mangkhut, and Anheuser-Busch gladly filled our request for the emergency supply. We made the request to reduce the amount of time the region had to wait for emergency drinking water, in the event of a natural disaster” said Tom Shimizu, general manager of Ambros Inc. “Our hearts are with the people in the CNMI, and we’ll continue to do our part to help in the recovery process.”

Guy Pudney, resident manager of Marpac, said: “Safe, clean drinking water is an absolute necessity during these difficult times, not only for the typhoon victims but also for all the relief workers on island who are helping with the recovery efforts. We will work with local organizations to get this water in the hands of the people who need it the most, as fast and as efficiently as we can for both Saipan and Tinian. As a resident of Saipan and a fellow victim of this storm, I assure you that we at Marpac, will do what we can to assist in these trying times.”

The water is scheduled to arrive on Saipan this week and will be distributed throughout the CNMI by the Red Cross. (PR)
