Southern United hands TanHoldings first loss

Southern United Football Club nosed out TanHoldings, 1-0, in the second girls U16 division game in the 2018 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Marinel Joy Falalimpa made the lone goal in the match, as she found her target in the 45th minute. The close victory was second in four games for Southern United, while TanHoldings absorbed its first loss after winning its first three assignments.
TanHoldings, despite the defeat, is still at the No. 2 spot in the team standings, while Southern United moved to third. Kanoa is ahead of the seven-squad field, as it improved to a 3-0-0 win-draw-loss record following a 4-0 triumph over Shirley’s FC in the final game last weekend.
Paulynn Joyce Grace delivered a pair of goals for the unbeaten Kanoa, as she scored in the 32nd and 65th minute. Abigail Decena and Sharmaine Francisco also hit the board for the division leaders with their goals in the 18th and 58th minute, respectively.
Meanwhile, the first game in the division had Matansa forcing MP United to a draw, 4-4.
Janah Casarino knocked in the equalizer for Matansa in the 63rd minute and also recorded the three other goals for her team. Her three earlier goals were posted in the ninth, 40th, and 47minute.
While Casarino carried the load for Matansa, MP United had four players contributing to the team’s cause. Sisters Francesca and Fiona Bucalig and Stellalou McCallion made it to the board, while the first scorer for MP United was not listed on the official match report.
BOYS U18
MP United 5, Kanoa 0
MP United kept its undefeated record after cruising past Kanoa in the first game in the boys U18 division.
Sunjoon Tenorio toyed around with the defense of the winless Kanoa after drilling all five goals for the unscathed MP United. He nailed back-to-back goals in a span of a minute (fourth and fifth), had his third in the 54th and the last two in the 62nd and 71st.
Matansa 3, TanHoldings 1
Matansa broke into the win column after downing TanHoldings in the other game in the division.
Louie Calayag, Ronnel Ocanada, and Jether Yobech scored for Matansa in the 47th, 63rd, and 75th minute, respectively, while John Michael Rojas made the lone goal (56th minute) for TanHoldings.
