The fourth gas price hike of the year comes just three months before the end of 2018 and nearly four months since the last price increase.

Mobil raised its gas prices Tuesday morning by 10 cents.

As of yesterday, the fourth price increase of the year boosted the price of Mobil’s Extra fuel from $4.43 per gallon to $4.53 per gallon, while Mobil’s Supreme fuel went up from $4.80 to $4.90 a gallon.

Shell followed suit and raised their gas prices on Tuesday.

The first gas price hike of the year was a 13-cent increase implemented on Jan. 8, 2018, raising gas prices from $3.95 to $4.08 per gallon. That was later raised after a month by 15 cents on Feb. 5, 2018, which was the second gas hike of the year. Gas went from $4.08 to $4.23 per gallon. Three months later, on May 14, the third gas price increase was at 20 cents, raising gas prices from $4.23 to $4.43 per gallon.

According to Saipan Tribune archives, gas prices were at $3.48 in early 2016 and continued to increase until it reached $3.93 in December 2016. A decrease of 10 cents was seen in June of 2017 before it increased by 10 cents again in October 2017.

Gas prices have been going up nationwide since President Trump pulled the United States out of a deal with Iran, one of the world’s largest oil producers.
