Kensington Hotel barely edged Kanoa Krushers, 77-75, during the second game in the IT&E Emon Masonic Lodge No. 179 Mixed Masters Brotherhood Basketball League last Saturday at the Koblerville Gymnasium.

While Kensington maintained a slight lead at the end of each quarter, Kanoa battled resiliently and kept the game close until the last buzzer. However, Kensington still prevailed after making four clutch free throws—three from Webster and one from Arnold Arrelano. Arrelano exploded for 27 points, while Webster chipped in 12, including 8 points in the fourth quarter.

Jun Alipio and Elmer Pineda contributed 9 and 8 points for Kensington, which bagged its third straight victory.

Kanoa had a balanced effort, as it had four players with 8 points or more. Joseph Fejeran led Kanoa with his 16 points, while Rommel Quintip, Edmund Bata, and Ramsa Tenepere added 10, 9, and 8 markers, respectively. Kanoa is still winless after two games.

Meanwhile, Pacific Islands Club came out on top of their game against MJD, 79-71, in the first game last Monday.

The match was close for most of the night, as PIC Saipan’s advantage never exceeded by 5 points.

Raymund Tolentino, Sean Rabasto, and James Abuy knocked in important baskets in the fourth quarter to hand PIC Saipan its third win in four games.

Rabasto had 13 points in the third period, while Tolentino and Abuy combined for 12. Abuy led all scorers with his 24 points, 21 of them came from the 3-point area, while Rabasto finished with 21.

Jun Tabora also had 21 markers for MJD and 10 of them came in the fourth quarter, but his efforts were ultimately not enough to topple PIC. MJD absorbed its first loss in three games.
