CHC to receive over $4M worth of equipment

Before the end of 2018, the Commonwealth Health Center will receive a load of new equipment worth about $4 million that will aid in the further advancement of the CNMI’s lone hospital.

During an interview with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres last Saturday at the Club 88 ribbon cutting ceremony, he said he has been working closely with CHC administrator Jesse Tudela and together have finalized what equipment the hospital is in dire need of in terms of advancement.

“We met with the administrator and we are really buckling down the actual needs because what we did…earlier, we had a whole list from CHC and throughout the year we continued to give them funding for it so they’ve upgraded a lot, some of their equipment. We didn’t want to double the order of equipment so we are now in the process of ordering all the equipment we agreed on with the administrator…It’s looking to be about $4 million,” he said.

According to Torres, the list includes various state-of-the-art machines.

“I gave my word to purchase a new mammogram, that’s one of it, hyperbaric chamber, there is a whole list but I don’t have it on the top of my head,” he said.

Torres added that the equipment is expected to arrive before the year ends.

“We are expecting to have the equipment in by November. We will start ordering them in the next couple of weeks so they will be in definitely before December…this is really good for our hospital…and for our residents,” he said.
