4 NMC Nursing graduates pass NCLEX-RN exam

Four more Northern Marianas College graduates have just passed the challenging National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses exam.

Yalan Liu, Lahaina Gatchalian, Honey Jane Ebuen, and Bryan James Balboa have joined the ranks of other NMC graduates who passed the difficult exam before them.

The NCLEX-RN exam is the exam nursing graduates in the CNMI have to pass in order to be able to practice nursing. The exam tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing graduates in order to certify that they are equipped with the capability to apply entry level nursing practices correctly.

NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico said, “I want to congratulate Yalan, Lahaina, Honey Jane, and Bryan on becoming the latest graduates to pass the NCLEX exam and I look forward to hearing more about their success as medical professionals.”

Rosa Tudela, chairperson of NMC’s Nursing Department, said, “Yalan, Lahaina, Honey, and Bryan have all worked very hard in studying and preparing themselves to pass the NCLEX-RN exam. I applaud them for their efforts and dedication and we are very proud of their recent accomplishments! I have no doubt that they will do their very best for our people.”

Ebuen said her interest in pursuing nursing started out as a child; she always aspired to become a nurse.

“I feel very passionate about the healthcare profession. I also see it as a way of helping my family and the community, which motivated me to pursue nursing,” she said.

Asked what factors contributed to her passing the NCLEX, Liu said, “Being focused, having a good study habit, good time management, and having self confidence in myself made me pass the NCLEX.”

Balboa said the NMC Nursing Program prepared him by providing him with the knowledge and skills to overcome the NCLEX exam.

“The nursing program also made me more confident in tackling every question by providing the chance to practice with mannequins and real-life scenarios with professional supervision,” he said.

Gatchalian has the following bit of advice to other NMC students who are planning to take the NCLEX: “Don’t feel bad if you’re scores are not the best on the NCLEX study questions. What is important is that you understand the questions, whether your answers are right or wrong. Don’t rush, take your time and take breaks when needed.”
