Kanoa wins season debut

Spring season champion Kanoa Football Club got its offense going in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory over Paire FC in the girls U16 division game in the 2018 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Kanoa drew goals from five different players to win their first match of the fall season. Paulyn Joyce, Sharmaine Francisco, Kiara Nichole Manganti, and Sue Ann Huevos hit all their goals in the second half, scoring in the 45th, 53rd, 60th, and 63rd minute, respectively. Khristelle Itaas handed Kanoa its lone goal in the first half when she found the back of the net in the ninth minute.

Paire, which played with a depleted roster, failed to counter to drop its second straight game.

TanHoldings 2, MP United 0
TanHoldings played its second game and prevailed anew after blanking MP United to take the early lead in the division.

Siblings Emalyn and Mary Joy Aniana delivered the goals for TanHoldigs, which won its opener against Paire last Sept. 15. Emalyn hit the board in the 21st minute, while Mary Joy did the same in the 56th.
With MP United bowing to TanHoldings, the former missed a follow-up on its season debut win over Southern United during the division’s opening week.

Southern United 6, Matansa 1
Southern United recovered from its loss over MP United after dominating the winless Matansa (0-2).

Keisha Deleon Guerrero powered Southern United to the easy victory after making four straight goals in the second half. She got her first in the 40th minute and the last three in the 44th, 48th, and 67th. Marinel Joy Falalimpa knocked in the two other goals for Southern United, as she scored in the sixth and 16th minute, while Jannah Casarino averted a shutout loss for Matansa after lighting up the board in the 45th.

CO-ED U13A DIVISION
Kanoa-1 4, MP United 3
Kanoa-1 grabbed the lead from MP United after pulling off a close win in their duel last weekend at the Koblerville Elementary School Field.

Daniel Mark Pablo delivered the go-ahead goal for Kanoa-1 in the 64th minute or three minutes after Garett Weaver equalized for MP United. Kanoa-1 took the top spot with its 2-0 record, while MP United fell to second place with its 2-1 slate.

Markus Toves, Jim Kurt Maniago, and Dylan Mister knocked in the three other goals for Kanoa, while Dev Bachani and Andrew Chung scored one each for MP United. Toves drew first blood for Kanoa-1 with his conversion right in the fourth minute of the close match, while Bachani tied the game four minutes later. Chung then handed MPU the lead in the 22nd minute, but Kanoa-1 forced another deadlock, thanks to Maniago’s shot in the 26th minute. Mister’s goal in the 47th minute gave the lead back to Kanoa-1, 3-2, before Weaver knotted the count anew in the 61st minute. However, Pablo broke the tie quickly and Kanoa-1 went on to keep the shaky lead at the buzzer.

Matansa 6, Kanoa-2 1
In the other match in the division, Matansa coasted past Kanoa-2 for its first win this season.
Carl Walter Salas, Chanyang Woo, ad Alex Megino registered two goals apiece for Matansa, which had a draw and loss in its first two games before routing Kanoa-2 to make it to the win column.
Kanoa-2 absorbed its second loss in as many games, as only Chad Escaner scored for the squad.
