DYS approved for technical assistance

Share

The Division of Youth Services has been approved for another year of technical assistance from the Capacity Building Center for States/Children’s Bureau under the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The additional year granted will be used to finalize the division’s standard operating procedures, which will provide direction and clarity on all aspects of the agency’s child welfare practice and operations. Furthermore, it will develop a needs assessment that will identify system training strengths, gaps in learning and opportunities for enhancing DYS staff training; and enhance their data system. Communication between the center and DYS has continued and official work is anticipated to begin in late October.

DYS is a division under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs led by administrator Vivian Sablan. Its overall mission is to help strengthen families and to promote good health and the wellbeing of children through the practice of positive parenting skills. For more information, contact DYS at (670) 237-1000. (PR)
