The early voting for the Northern Islands for the Nov. 6 general election commenced at the Commonwealth Election Commission office on Tekken St. in Susupe last Saturday.

CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol said the early voting for Northern Islands registered voters extends through the last day before the election at 4pm.

Igitol said the polling place for early voting remains open during the hours of 8:30am and 4pm on weekdays, weekends, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

Igitol said anyone requiring other information may call their office at 235-8683 or by sending an electronic mail to administrative@votecnmi.gov.mp.

There are 177 registered voters for the Northern Islands. CEC is reportedly preparing to spend $26,000 to $27,000 to charter a boat to deliver ballots for early voting for those currently staying on Pagan, Alamagan, and Agrihan.

Based on the CEC’s last report, there are 14 Northern Islands’ voters who are currently on those three islands.

The seven-day early voting for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will commence Oct. 30.
