To catch a thief
Vae Victus: Woe to the Conquered
“To the victor belong the spoils.”
—William L. Marcy, 1828
To catch a thief some wags say one must follow the money
to find corrupt practices in those with and without scruples
they won’t find their trials and jail terms one bit funny
whether they absconded with greenbacks or Russian rubles
In the Big Apple and D.C. its Michael Cohen be knowin
doing some serious trash talk on All the President’s Men
talking to prosecutors about crooks covers he’s blowin
he goes to see Special Counsel Mueller again and again
With confessional tell all tattle tale truths Cohen blabs it all
and don’t you know Donald Trump’s jaws are getting tight
as inside NYC and DC courts and hallowed justice halls
Cohen’s ball busting testimony takes dogged bite after bite
Cohen tells tales of Trump’s Russian dealing and collusion
with hope for a reduced sentence he makes no illusion.
The Joy of Lying and the Sorrow of Lies
“One of the most striking differences between a cat and a lie is that a cat has only nine lives.”
—Mark Twain
The bigly lying media said this twice yesterday
most my empty head is bald what is left is gray
and big crows feet stretch from my beady eyes
I’ve become quite allergic to all my hair dyes
some lies are infinitely large some pretty small
I’ve told so many I can’t remember them all
my head can not say no as most truth it negates
the minute I tell a whopper another one waits
time passes swiftly I tell more again and again
proudly signing executive orders with my pen
I’m pained by truth and proud of prevarication
as I rattle off lies in many place and situation
oh those lies, so smart, coming out of my head
time flies, truth departs, gone now till I’m dead.
