The Superior Court dismissed on Friday the case against a man who allegedly beat up his relative who was then-two months pregnant during an argument over a weighing scale in As Lito last July.

Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho threw away the case against 39-year-old Victor Hocog Aldan after the Office of the Attorney General moved to drop the case.

Assistant attorney general Frances T. Demapan told the court last Friday that the victim asked the Commonwealth on Aug. 24, 2018, not prosecute this case any further.

Camacho vacated the pretrial conference and the bench trial scheduled for Nov. 14 and Dec. 3, 2018, respectively.

A police detective stated in her report that an eyewitness reported that last July 5, Aldan and another relative confronted the alleged victim about a weighing scale. The confrontation escalated into an argument. Aldan allegedly pushed the victim on the chest and punched her on the left eyebrow and temple. The victim then called the police.

Police said the victim had slight swelling and bruising above her left eyebrow.
