Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance again welcomed Joeten Enterprises as an emerald-level sponsor for the annual Green Gala, which will take place today, Sept. 14, 2018, at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

The Green Gala is MINA’s signature event, raising funds for the continuation of MINA’s programs such as the Schools for Environmental Conservation, Marine Debris Prevention and Tasi Watch Rangers.

Darlene Macaranas, manager of the Joeten Susupe store, relayed their company’s commitment to doing their part for the environment. “Part of the reason we are such firm believers in the work that MINA does is that it provides a way for our community to learn and understand about the need to protect our island resources.”

Joeten Enterprises has been instrumental in building on this culture of conservation by initiating their Taya (No) Plastic Tuesday program, where all purchases are bagged in reusable bags or boxes. This program has been ongoing for the past three years.

In addition to Joeten Enterprises, Joeten Motors is again sponsoring this year’s Green Gala, which reaffirms their company’s commitment of “going green.”

Joeten Motors general manager Matt Deets said: “We at Joeten Motors take pride in using best practices in our business. We’re all responsible, and MINA is consistently working to keep our land and sea litter-free.”

In addition to Joeten Enterprises and Joeten Motors, other Joeten affliates—The Athlete’s Foot, Borderline, and All Star Sporting Goods—are also Green Gala sponsors.

This year’s Gala features a celebration of the International Year of the Reef, with entertainment, dinner and beverages, a silent auction and raffle for a round trip ticket to the U.S. via Honolulu, courtesy of United Airlines.
