Mangkhut intensifies
Typhoon Mangkhut has intensified over Rota, based on information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point.
A typhoon warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan and adjacent coastal waters in the Mariana Islands.
Typhoon conditions, including destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are expected or occurring at all locations. Rota was projected to get a direct hit by a Category 2 typhoon with winds of 100 mph or more. Remain in your shelters until the all-clear is received. As of 7pm today, Typhoon Mangkhut was about 15 miles west of Rota, about 50 miles north-northeast of Guam, about 75 miles south-southwest of Tinian, and about 85 miles southwest of Saipan.
Maximum sustained wind was at 105 mph, with Typhoon Mangkhut moving toward the west at 20 mph. It is expected to make a s light turn toward the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed over the next few days.

Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 50 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 180 miles to the north and up to 120 miles to the south.
Typhoon Condition 1 is maintained for the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota as of 8pm this evening. Typhoon Condition 1 means destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are expected or occurring at all locations.
