MINA prepares to host Green Gala
The Micronesian Islands Nature Alliance is taking a deep breath as it prepares to host its biggest event of the year, the annual Green Gala, a glittering party that is intended to raise funds to sustain its many environmental projects.
According to MINA executive director Roberta Guerrero, MINA has been working tirelessly to make sure that the Green Gala on Sept. 14 at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan will run smoothly.
Guerrero said the event—a celebration of the environment—would bring together individuals who are passionate about it.
“The community can expect a celebration for our environment, which includes good friends getting together in support of the cause to make sure we’re aware that we only have one island and it’s ours to protect,” she said.
Guerrero said the Green Gala theme this year is “International Year of the Reef” and would highlight Micronesia’s pristine reefs.
“We want to focus and highlight the beauty of the reef the surrounds us and the need to keep it healthy,” she said.
The Green Gala will also feature the annual Green Awards that include the Green Business of the Year, Environmental Hero, and Environmental Champion award.
Community members can expect a sumptuous dinner, entertainment, and a chance to win a roundtrip ticket to the United States sponsored by United Airlines.
“It will [have] great food, entertainment, a silent auction, and the grand raffle,” she said.
Guerrero said that MINA expects to sell out all tickets and guests occupying the entire venue at the Hibiscus Hall
For individuals still interested in purchasing tickets and supporting the Green Gala event, tickets are currently still available at the MINA office on Middle Road or call 233-REEF (7333), or email minaoutreach@gmail.com. The price of admission is $75 per person.
