The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands reported a 92.07 percent occupancy rate among 11 member hotels for January 2014, a 1-percent increase compared to January 2013.

A total of 65,786 of 71,455 available room nights sold in January 2014, compared to 67,794 of 74,462 of available room nights sold over the same period last year. Room rates were $148.28 during the month, compared to $128.53 last January.

“Strong occupancy is good for the industry and good for the Northern Mariana Islands,” said HANMI chair Nick Nishikawa. “It means taxes are being paid to provide government services to the people and jobs are being provided in both the public and private sectors. This is the partnership our HANMI hotels have had—and would like to continue to have—as contributing members of this community.”

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands was established in 1985 as a professional forum for the hospitality industry of the NMI. (HANMI)
